Homecraft - Adult & Youth

Any person entering articles for judging within the Homecraft and Handicraft Section MUST be a member in good standing of the Kingston and District Agricultural Society. Membership may be paid when items are brought in for judging.

  1. Exhibitor rules # 1 – 26 where applicable.

  2. For on-line entries made by Sept. 10, entry tags will be printed for you. They can be picked up the week of fair at the fair board office, or at entry drop-off times. Entry tags must be completed showing the correct class and number as listed and SECURELY attached to the work. Otherwise the work will be disqualified.

  3. Entries to be judged must be brought to the Homecraft Area in the Bennett Barn Wednesday September 16, 2026 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. or Thursday September 17 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. *The closing time for entries will be 11:15 a.m. Thursday September 17, 2026.

  4. All items are to be the work of the exhibitor. Items may be shown for no more than 2 consecutive years.

  5. Judging will begin at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Thursday September 17, 2026.

  6. Only prize-winning entries will be displayed in the adult categories; all youth items will be displayed. Non-winning items may be picked up following the Judging (approximately 4:00 p.m. Thursday) Also on Sunday Sept 20 at 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Any items not picked up will become the property of the Agricultural Society unless appropriate arrangements are made between the Exhibitor and the Office.

  7. Tags are to be completed by the exhibitor showing the correct class and number as listed in the Fair Prize Book and SECURELY attached to the work. Otherwise, the work will be disqualified.

  8. Please DO NOT bring coat hangers.

  9. All Judges selected by the Agricultural Society are fully qualified and competent. Their decision is final. Judges are authorized by the Directors to discard all soiled items, or items having a bad odour (i.e. smoke) worn or old exhibits. Prizes are to be awarded to new and updated work only.

  10. Contestants may enter as many classes as they wish but may only submit one entry per class.

No items are to be framed unless stated.

O.A.A.S. HAND QUILTED AND MACHINE QUILTS CHAMPIONSHIP QUILT COMPETITIONS

Enter your Quilt in the 2026 Kingston Fall Fair and be eligible for one of the O.A.A.S. Quilt Competitions. The Grand Champions will be selected from the available quilts in Section 1–5. The winners will compete at the District Level in October 2026. The District Winners will compete at the Provincial Level in February 2027 at the OAAS Annual Convention held in Toronto. *PLEASE DO NOT DISPLAY QUILTER’S NAME.

O.A.A.S. Prize Money $500.00 - Winner keeps their quilt

  1. Entries must be solely made, and hand quilted by an individual, machine quilted solely by an individual and exhibited and judged at a local Agricultural Society Fair to be eligible for this competition.

  2. Annual Championship Quilts must be a minimum of 280” (711 cm) measured on perimeter. (Smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next level of competition)

  3. Judging will occur at Local Fairs and District Levels. The Provincial Grand Champion Quilt from each category will be selected at the Annual O.A.A.S. Convention.

  4. Upon making an entry into the O.A.A.S. Quilt Competition, the exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.

  5. The winning O.A.A.S. Champion Quilt will not be eligible to compete in any further District and/or Convention O.A.A.S competitions.

  6. The Winner’s name and PATTERN will be displayed at the Fair on a sign provided by O.A.A.S. *Samples of fabric and threads MUST BE attached.

  7. Label your quilt with Pattern name.
